Pineapple Juice Causes Explosions

Postby LNTS » Thu Apr 25, 2019 4:44 am

Hello All,

I have been adding pineapple juice to my second ferment. The first attempts went well- some carbonation - but nothing major. Now, I am experiencing major explosions. Could anyone advise on how to stop the explosions? Adding pineapple juice makes it very yummy. Would love to continue making it.

Best,
Tamika

Try burping the jar or opening the lid every few hours to deal with the massive amounts of carbonation. Or try a little less juice. It is not recommended to use juices during the first ferment as I heard it can irritate the grains.
