Can I mix water kefir grains with ginger beer grains?

I have been making water kefir for the last year. I recently bought some ginger beer grains and wanted to know if anyone has tried mixing the two grains together?
Is it a good idea?

It sounds like it would be interesting to try, but I personally prefer to keep them separate and authentic. They are closely related, but it wouldn't surprise me if the ginger beer plant overpowers the water kefir grains and it turned out more like ginger beer than water kefir. Those ginger beer plant buggers are small but powerful. If you do decide to combine them, let me know how it goes.
